Heritage International School

Kampala, Uganda

HISTORY

On the 9th of September 1994, H.I.S. opened its doors. Missionaries from five Christian missions: Finnish Free Foreign Mission, Church of God Mission, Kinderhilfswerk, Mission Aviation Fellowship and Baptist Mission of Uganda had signed a Memorandum of Agreement to combine their efforts to set up a mission school. H.I.S. was to be a co-operative effort to support Christian mission personnel in Uganda. Children from both mission and non-mission families were to be welcomed.

Our aim continues as it was at the start.  We continue to provide a high quality education that prepares our young people for a life of faith and service.

MISSION

Heritage International School is dedicated to providing quality education that equips each student to develop their God-given potential for a life of faith and service.

VISION

Our vision is to support the mission personnel in Uganda and provide Christ-centered education for all children, regardless of their religious, social or economic background. Heritage International School will provide an opportunity for ministry for missionaries in the school, and additional avenues of testimony and service outside the school. The impact of Heritage International School will go beyond academics for the entire international and inter-denominational Christian community.

MOTTO

We use a Bible verse for our motto: '...children are a heritage from the Lord.' Psalm 127: 3 as we believe that children are indeed a precious gift bestowed on us by God.

MANAGEMENT

The policy-making body of HIS is the Board of Directors. This board is made up of representatives from all the member agencies.  A parent representative from the PTF and the Head of School also participate on the Board as non-voting members. The Head of School is authorized by the Board to provide for the day-to-day administration of the school.
